Personalization

It is important for me to think about how to personalize my designs. I gain insights into how to visually personalize courses based on my conversations with clients. As we build trust and get to know one another I am able to visually communicate that I am listening to them. I take into consideration the audience I am designing for when incorporating multimedia. It is important to me that my designs reflect the learners taking the course. My choices are intentional and inclusive whether that means race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or ability. My designs visually reflect the broad community of learners I’ve had the opportunity to design for. When developing multimedia I consider the context, student personas and the personal esthetics of the client to personalize the learning experience.

There are many ways in which we can express our values and goals as designers. As a member of a diverse learning community this is one way that I do. On the surface it is eye catching, however, there is a deeper motivation for my use of thoughtful multimedia. As a young learner growing up, I rarely saw myself represented in published material and media. I intentionally personalize my work to make relevant connections with learners.
